A very fine example of a Luha Dayak mask from west -central Borneo. The mask represents a high spirit being that protects and accompanies the dead to the land of the departed souls. Aesthetically, the masks of the Tumon Dayak reflect ancient, animistic traditions combined with centuries of interaction with Minangkabau and Javanese peoples.
