An eleven headed, eight armed, finely articulated sculpture of Avalokitesvara who is the embodiment of compassion. The many heads, eyes, and hands represent the countless, skillful ways in which Avalokitesvara can see, hear, and benefit all sentient beings.
Avalokitesvara holds implements in the eight principal arms as follows: first two hands, palms joined with the wish fulfilling jewel symbolizing bodhichitta; second right arm holds crystal mala; second left arm holds a golden lotus with stem; third right arm holds mudra of supreme giving (no implement); third left arm holds empowerment vase; fourth right arm holds wheel of knowledge; fourth left arm holds bow and arrow. The reverse base of the sculpture includes a written prayer inscription.
Inscription: an invocation to all protecting deities and an auspicious final prayer for good luck.
