Indigo dyed cotton, red cotton applique, cowry shells, glass and metal beads
18" x 20"
An unusual example of this type of beaded ceremonial skirt. The decorative techniques used for kain buri are a specialty of the Maloh people, who are famous for their sinuous bead work. Aside from some wear on the red applique banding this sarong is in pristine condition.
