This early, iconic-style tampan displays an intricate combination of multicolored, deeply-dyed natural yarns woven into a powerful design. The symbolism behind the great ship can be interpreted in various ways - from that of a vessel of wealth and prosperity to aristocratic vehicles that symbolically record important rites of transition, particularly marriage.
