Symbolizing transcendent knowledge, the cast bronze kapala is one of the most important tantric cult objects in Tibetan Buddhism. It is used as a ritual offering vessel in initiation rites. The cup is shaped like a human skull. It has a pearled edge with three finials; two skulls, and a crowned central figure. Its patina is encrusted with the vestiges of consecrated sindoor powder.
